Who am I?

My name is Jake Scott — and I haven’t always been the man I am today.

I know what it’s like to feel run down, out of shape, and disappointed in yourself.

To wake up tired even after a full night’s sleep. To know you should be doing better, but not know how to make it stick.

For years, my life was a cycle of inconsistency.
Training on and off. Drinking too much. Eating for convenience.

Feeling strong for a while… then slowly sliding back.
I hit rock bottom more than once. And I’ll be honest… without fitness, I wouldn’t be here today.

Training gave me something alcohol never could:

I first started lifting at 16, after a youthful football career, and no matter how far I drifted, I always noticed the same thing. When I trained properly, ate well, and moved with purpose, I felt like myself again. Taller. Sharper. More capable. Useful.

Everything changed when my daughter, Rosie, was born.
She gave me a reason to raise my standards, not just for her, but for myself. And when another difficult period hit, I realised something had to change permanently, not temporarily.

That decision led me to the British Army.

In 2023 I began basic training and for the first time in my life, I found an environment where discipline, structure, and effort were non-negotiable. I thrived.

I got fitter than I ever thought possible.

Today, I serve as an All Arms Physical Training Instructor and Defence Health & Wellbeing Advisor, responsible for the physical training, fitness, and health of soldiers in my regiment.
